Salaam Soccer Camp (July 2017) will provide an opportunity for refugee children in the Middle East to experience organized play.
In the area that we will be serving, there are over 1 million refugees that have been displaced from their homes for several years and require overwhelming amounts of humanitarian aid. 250,000 of these refugees are children, most of whom have been out of school for 6 years. We know how important play is to a child's well being, and we want to give these children at least a few days of organized sports and the fun that comes with it.
This July will be our pilot year and we hope to expand this program in the future. Coach Denise Coulombe and I will be conducting the camp in conjunction with a local humanitarian organization. For security reasons, we aren't allowed to disclose the location or more specific information online, but don't hesitate to contact me privately for more information.
How can you help?
Here are are some tangible needs that you can help us with. All equipment will be left with the local organization with the hope that these children will be able to continue playing soccer. Any money left after the camp needs are met will be given to the local organization and given to refugee families through food vouchers, hygiene packages, etc. My goal is to provide my own travel, but I may need assistance in offsetting some expenses.
If you have a business or organization that would like to help, please contact me.
- A $5 donation would provide a camp t-shirt or a pair of socks
- A $10 donation would provide a soccer ball for one refugee child
- A $15 donation would provide a pair of shin guards for a child
- A $50 donation would provide a set of portable goals
- A $100 donation would rent a soccer field for a day
- Other needs include pinnies and cones, water bottles
Thank you for helping!
