Music is the universal language - it transcends cultural, social, and economic boundaries and connects directly to emotional exploration. At my elementary school, music is something that brings everyone together, regardless of where they come from or what language they speak.
My students are driven by curiosity and self-expression. I teach a diverse group of K-5 students who are eager to perform and learn more about what music can offer them in their lives. I have so many students that want to take instrumental lessons, that I am considering making a weekend academy for private lessons.
My goal is to enrich this school's musical experience as much as possible, starting with creating performing opportunities in the form of choir and band. Choir will be no problem to set up; there are lots of students who are chomping at the bit to sing in front of their friends and families.
