What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is...

a method of raising money for a project or cause through small amounts of money from a large number of people via the Internet.

How is crowdfunding on WonderWe different?

WonderWe is a free online fundraising platform that unites the power of 'we'. You can support causes in more ways than just raising money! Post, follow, share, or even start your own peer-to-peer fundraiser.

How Crowdfunding works

There are three steps common to any crowdfunding fundraiser.

1. Tell your story

It's easy! Fill out our online form to launch a free crowdfunding campaign. Explain how potential donors can get involved and make a difference. Just add a title, goal, and campaign picture.

2. Share far and wide

If people don't know your fundraiser exists, they won't be able to donate! Activate your friends and family on Facebook, Twitter, and email and ask them to spread the word. Each share could be worth $33!

3. Receive funds

Donations you receive will be transferred to your bank account daily. We partner with WePay to handle secure credit card donations and there is a 2.9% plus $0.30 fee per transaction.

So how does a fundraising page look like, once it is created?

Crowdfunding best practices

Successful crowdfunding campaigns have one thing in common: an active community of supporters. Here are some tips and ideas for how to build your network of donors.

  • Send emails

Use the email icon to the bottom right of the campaign to share with others. You can also use MailChimp to send newsletters and include the WonderWe campaign link.

  • Social media

We’ve made this amazingly simple to do on WonderWe. Simply click the Twitter and Facebook buttons to share your campaign directly to social. These buttons are located on the bottom right of your campaign page.

  • Images and video

Create a compelling video and always include a photo or image when sharing on social media such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. We recommend sharing your campaign 5+ times per week across your social channels.

  • Ask for help

Do you have a corporate partner who would help spread the word about your campaign to their employees? Local churches who share your vision? A community leader who believes in you? Think through all of these contacts and ask them to share your campaign.
