The Heidelberg International Women’s Club will be enacting an evening of ghostly feminism, in order to raise funds for art supplies and classes for refugee women living in Heidelberg. Over the course of half an hour, and in five of Heidelberg’s most beautiful Altstadt squares, we will perform in costume a series of dramatic readings from strong female artists of the past.
Art is a beautiful way to express your feelings, and to feel that you have created something truly of your own. While refugees do receive support for the basics of living, many of them will not be able to afford something as enriching and joyful as an art class, or have access to art supplies. Through a project we are starting at the refugee house in Kirchheim, these funds will go towards art supplies and classes to the refugee women living there. These women have gone through extreme stress and difficulty to get here, and we would like to extend a warm hand of welcome and support, and to allow them to do something just for them. If we raise enough funds, we will also look at developing a children's theatre at the shelter.
